To a New Years! (Concept to Flash)

So I've been away from the net for a week, being in Ottawa is wonderful as always! Wanted to post this sooner, but oh well...

Many thanks goes to Nick Hendriks for providing me an awesome layout to paint for the Flash in the last post! Told him the concept of it last minute and got this awesome sketch done asap!

Background paintings

Amusing how shitty last year's old west painting turned out. I'm surprised Michael didn't fail be outright for it.

Old:

New:

These are the other backgrounds for portfolio...if you do see this post, please critique em :( Screw the ego, tell me why they suck :D

Updated Post - Includes process work...

Sorry but....fanart for wow...my paladin in T6, although I can't really claim her anymore since I quit the game.

Anyways, this started out as being only a sketch and was to remain as such. While at work, I noticed on Pete Emslie's blog a post about using a certain type of photoshop brush to paint and given that I had no scanner during the summer...this was one of the only piece scanned well enough to paint....thus became the summer project. Hope to have something soon that isnt WoW to try it on..>.>

Do click to enlarge, otherwise details are all lost....:(
Debating on submitting it to Blizzard fanart at the moment...

Making of it broken down:

Scanned....very unproportional...with that massive arm...

Started to color it based on the generic model viewer colors...very bright!

The pride and joy of this project was the shoulder pads...massive metal glowing reflective shoulderpads...really fun to do with this new technique...

After getting about this far...well...notice the hips are massive! At least for this race...

so they got resized....shoulder pads look weird too but the understructure works....blar silly...
Also realised her ...boob buttons? were looking weird. Actually, I'm not even sure why they are there! They serve no purpose and look silly on a male model.

Also fixed up the colors so that
Point the other way on mighty buttons!

Final Version without the background :)

Painting with a pen tool....

You know, using only the pen tool is fun but takes quite a while...and sometimes the outcome isnt even all that great..which is why the character has been removed..BWAHAHAHAHA..

Painting Assignment

Thought about it...
Decided to post some schoolwork from this semester, although the animations and leica have to wait...need to grab it from school! So for how, have some paintings! This term its a focus on photoshop (noooo!!!!!) which we made 2 grey scales and color tests of a provided lineart...

I think Mike said this layout is from Gargoyles..?
